Show and Tell Tuesday: Pinterest Worthy Edition

Howdy folks! Sorry for missing y'all yesterday, I knew I wanted to post for today and I was busy being productive on my day off. Nothing fun...just grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, etc...sigh. I'm linking up with Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesday to share about our Pinterest favorites and finds. Today, I wanted to share some recipes and crafts that I've blogged about that are, in my humble opinion, Pinterest worthy :)

My Chalk Paint Planter was an accidental craft that has added a nice touch to my apartment. I love that I used a cactus because it's no maintenance ;) Check out the full post here

My Anthropologie hack coasters are by far my favorite craft I've ever made. They are easy and beautiful. They look so expensive but they weren't at all! They would make a great gift or a great decoration for your home. Check out the step by step instructions here.

I'm a lipstick junkie. I recently posted about it here.  Any lipstick aficionado knows that your lipstick only looks as good as it's base: your lips. Exfoliating your lips is crucial! Check out my DIY Lip Scrub here. It's simple and so effective. Buying it at a store is so expensive so save yourself some bucks to put towards your next lipstick instead!

I love food. I love trying new recipes. I love creating recipes. So naturally I've included some recipes in my little blog space. Writing this post made me realize how I need to write more recipes! This Veggie Pizza is so simple and more of an idea then a recipe. But I do have a secret tip/ingredient that you should check out. The full step by step recipe is here.

Finally, my favorite comfort food, my meatloaf. It's easy and delicious. Seriously, whip this up. You won't regret it! Step by step recipe is here along with healthy "mashed potatoes."

Here are some Pinterest pins that I want to try...

DIY Lip Scrub

Good morning, y'all! I hope everyone had a great weekend.
I think I've made it pretty clear that I have a love for lipstick. Well the key to having lipstick looking it's best is to have a good canvas. Yep, you read that right. Your lips really have to be in good shape for the lipstick to look right. No one looks good in flakey lipstick that clumps. As I really fell in love with lipstick I've learned a couple tips for good application...

1. Your lips are still skin so they can burn! If your going to be in the sun make sure you put chapstick with a sunscreen on. It can really damage your lips!
2. Don't be afraid of lipliner. If you use the right color and apply it well it can really enhance your look.
3. And the reason this post was born...your lips need exfoliating...just like any other part of your skin.

It seems a little uncomfortable. The idea of exfoliating your lips!? But let me tell you, it works! Not only does it help lipstick go on SO MUCH MORE SMOOTHLY it makes your lips feel great. I honestly will exfoliate them sometimes even when I'm not wearing lipstick.

Warning: Awkward lip pictures ahead! I just want to prove that it helps!

It really makes a difference!

I've always preached my love of exfoliating your lips to my roommate. Well, the other day she was complaining about how dry her lips were. She said she needed some lip exfoliant and I decided that I would make her some--and write a blog post about it at the same time :)

A little back story...when I became really into lipstick I found that my lipstick sometimes was hard to apply because it would get stuck in the dry patches. I started looking for lip exfoliant on Nordstrom's website but couldn't get myself to commit to that price tag. And that day, my DIY Lip Scrub was born.

What you'll need is:
1. Vaseline
2. Sugar
3. Cinnamon

You can make as much as you need. A little goes a long way so I decided to use a tablespoon for mine.

Pour a heaping tablespoon of raw sugar in your glass.

Then add a tiny bit of cinnamon. I just eyeballed it.

Mix well.

Add a heaping tablespoon of vaseline.

This next part gets messy! It is hard to thoroughly mix all the ingredients. If it gets really tough stick it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds just enough to loosen up the vaseline.

Then I just added it to tupperware so that my roomie can use it whenever she needs it!

Such glamorous packaging...not. How cute would it be to make this in bulk and put it in jars for Christmas gifts!? It's an exfoliant for really anything. I've sometimes used it on my elbows and knees when they are dry.

That's it! The vaseline gives it that sticky consistency you need and the sugar adds the exfoliant. The cinnamon? Well it's a natural lip plumper! So this is really natural, simple, and inexpensive way to help your lipstick go on more smoothly.

I would love to hear if y'all give this a try! Let me know. xoxo

What's Up Wednesday 7/1/15

Happy Wednesday! Today I'm linking up for What' s Up Wednesday with Shay, Mel, and Sheaffer!

I'm a week late, I know. I just didn't get the post done in time. #MyBad

What we're I'm eating this week...

I've been eating out a lot more than normal lately. Between grabbing lunch with coworkers or grabbing dinner on my way home I haven't had much time to cook! I can't wait to get back in the kitchen.

I tried Thai food for the first time! Several of my coworkers and I went to celebrate ending another week. I got Pad Thai..it was delicious!

This is one of my favorite light suppers or a quick lunch. It's a toasted piece of good quality of bread topped with mayo, avocado, fried egg, and hot sauce. If you love avocado toast as much as me then you should try this!

I found time this weekend to cook a great meal from one of my favorite foodie bloggers--Shepherd's Pie with roasted potatoes. It was tasty! Check it out.

What I'm reminiscing about...

College. Graduation. Friends. Enough said!

What I'm loving...

Still loving my Anthropologie Hack coasters! They look so good with the rest of my decor. I would love to see anyone who made them and feature them on my blog! Check them out!

What we've I've been up to...

Studying at home, sleep, studying at work. sleep, repeat. But seriously.

What I'm dreading...

See above :) My exam is Monday. I'm so nervous!

This is my post work "I'm stressed and tired" face! Haha!

What I'm working on...

I've been brainstorming new posts ideas for my blog! I have a great beauty series planned and I cannot wait to share! I love all the positive feedback I'm getting. Feel free to send me suggestions or topics you think I should cover!

What I'm excited about...

Treating myself to a massage after hopefully passing my exam! Any local people know of somewhere I should try?

What I'm watching/reading...

On Sunday I chose to watch church from my home. Love being able to hear the music and the sermon live from my home.

What I'm listening to...

A little unexpected fact about me..I love rap music. It's my favorite genre of music and has been for years. I love to shower to it, dance to it, workout to it and more. It pumps me up and makes me happy :) I usually listen on Pandora or Spotify. Here are 2 songs I've been dancing to...

What I'm wearing...

Work clothes! Lots of lots of work clothes.

Aren't these shoes adorable?? And they're on sale right now!

What I'm doing this weekend...

Studying. Sigh. Do I sound like a broken record yet? :)

I'm excited to go visit my parents, Aunt, and cousin up in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Cool weather, family, paddle boarding, and good food. Doesn't get much better!

Have a great Wednesday, friends!
